Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust in conjunction with the North Wilts Youth and Minor Football League have been delivering Advanced Centres for players who have shown potential over recent months.
The weekly sessions offer opportunities for local young talented players who have been identified at STFiTC Development Centres and at their local clubs, to attend structured weekly coaching sessions delivered by UEFA Level 3 Coaches.
The sessions allow the coaches to work closely with the talented youngsters around developing their touch on the ball, spacial awareness and tactical knowledge of the game.
The Centres are delivered over 3 nights within the age groups of 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10 year olds. The group are taken through a coaching syllabus designed to improve the players over the 12 week term.
Margaret Rivers, General Secretary of the North Wilts Youth and Minor Football League, said:
“During our early discussions with Swindon Town FiTC Trust regarding the concept of the Advanced Soccer Centres, we quickly realised that this initiative would greatly enhance the pathway for talented boys and girls playing in the league without taking them away from their club football. This allows them to be coached to a higher level by professional coaches, but does not have the restrictions placed on them, allowing them to still participate in league competition. We have already successfully rolled out the first phase with our clubs and the response was tremendous, we are delighted to be working in partnership with this programme and the STFC FiTC Trust and will continue to support the Advanced Development Centre’s within its current capacity.”
The Advanced Centres will be putting their skills to the test against Plymouth Argyle and the Swindon Town Centre of Excellence to name a few. The games for the centres will provide strong tests and allow the team at STFiTC Trust to monitor how well these talented youngsters have progressed under their guidance.
